    I have to admit up front that I am the type of fisherman that tries to get by in spending as little as I can on the equipment. I have no doubt that great equipment, that is poles, tackle, reels, etc, make for a much better fishing experience over the years. Especially if you favor salt water. My problem is that with the amount of fish I usually get around to actually catching, spending big bucks just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. When I spotted this Daiwa 4000B reel recently at a sportsman show, I loved the look and feel of it right off. And I had the opportunity to check out and weigh in on a lot of hefty priced reels that day. (For the record, I also checked out some lower priced reels in the Sweepfire line and found this one to be a far better quality than the cheaper ones. Well worth the small upgrade in price).     I use this reel to catch some really big fish in a creek near my house. I have tried using other reels that I have bought close to home and the big fish have been tearing them up all summer this is the only one that is still working for me. Great reel might purchase another from seller.

    This is a good Reel, i teamed it with a 7ft rod and used it to pitch my DOA shrimp and other soft plastic lures. Then used it for some bottom fishing and it worked great. Teamed it with some power pro and it did the job. I will buy at least three more. After using it i cleaned it very good and oiled it up. I say again, Good Reel!

    it is a pretty good reel the star drag is excellent
    If you are putting this on a surf rod would not be the best choice its not that big and cant hold as much line as you would need for that. I got 200 yds of 30lb test so its not as bad as you would think
    Would be excellent for a short casting rod the spool does not need alot of weight to start spinning and it doesnt get out of control when it does would be easy to stop overall I like it the only reason I gave it 4 stars is cause I did not know how big it was and I had already spent the money on 2 day shipping which I would not be reimbursed for
    I am currently using it on a 10ft surf rod so It works just fine
